The next time you have to write a blog, proposal, article, or multi-paragraph email, try this:
1. On a blank sheet of paper, quickly jot down your main topic.
2. Under your main topic, jot down three key ideas you want to highlight.
3. Under each key idea, write down three thoughts that come to mind.
4. Wrap up with a conclusion

Since this blog is short, I only had one level. Here’s how it looked in a speedy outline:
Main Topic: Speedy Outline
1. Key Idea: Concept/definition
2. Key Idea: Example (visual)
3. Key Idea: Benefits
While you can use other outlining tools such as in MS WORD or OmniOutliner, I find this method quicker, easier, and more intuitive. I also like the tactile, playful feeling of drawing on paper. More importantly, it avoids procrastination and immediately records on paper what’s important. It’s also a convenient, easy way to brainstorm during meetings.
